Someone once said...
"Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions!"
And yes, they fiercely believe this sort of retrograde nonsense. In fact, "tolerance" should be changed to "INCLUSIVENESS" AND "a man without" should be changed to "A MAN OF CONVICTIONS!"
Changed in this manner, the phrase would better serve us all as a sign of our willingness to even appreciate that which we do not understand, are comfortable with or know. Hence, the phrase in fact should read:
"INCLUSIVENESS IS THE VIRTUE OF A MAN WITH CONVICTION!"
If we look in a dictionary, the word conviction is defined as "an unshakable belief in something without need for proof or evidence."
As a Catholic, a follower in Jesus Christ and his teachings, I believe in a God of Love. My Christ does not allow for discrimination, intolerance and conditional Love. My Christ believes that Love is the golden rule which we must follow on our ever-challenging path to becoming better human beings.
To say that we "tolerate" means that we "grant acceptance" to something or someone, but we do so within the boundaries of our own comfort levels. Firstly, it is not up to us to usurp Christ's rule, it is thus not to us to grant acceptance to anyone. Secondly, Christ teaches us that we have to Love all, even those who hurt us – and as painful as it might be, we have to do so.
The love Christ gives to us is unconditional. Whether we attend Chruch regularly, make mistakes and forget his teachings here and there. Christ's heart is open to us all – not just to those who convince themselves that they, and no one else, are the righteous. Pride is a terrible human failing, and yes, even those who bask in their own righteousness are forgiven by our Christ.
His Love in boundless. His Love is non-judgmental. His Love is not discriminatory. His Love is given a'plenty to us all.
During Lent, a period of purification of our soul, let us remember Christ's teachings. Let us thnk of Love and not pride; let us follow in Christ's path and refrain from usurping his role by convincing ourselves that we are the oracles of righteousness.

Prince Albert of Monaco

The sovereign who cannnot find a proper wife...now we find that he has recognized a second illegitimate child, a girl this time around!
Poor Albert...no one ever explained to him the advisability of safe sex. Two illegitimates and no legitimate child to inherit from him. At this rate it will be his Casiraghi nephews and niece who will be poised to inherit the principality's throne.
Surely, bastards and the Grimaldi go hand in hand (since almost every ruler of Monaco has had illegitimate children), but in this day and age, it seems inexcusable for someone of Albert's station and position to be fathering out-of-wedlock children here and there, particularly since he has still to muster the courage to settle with a girl and start his own family.
Where is royalty headed...
There is something about Mary...
For the last six years Mary Cheney, the Vicepresident's Lesbian daughter, has been MIA - probably hidden under some covert in a deep, deep closet...all the while we have been ruled by one of the most homophobic bunches in American history...now...she comes out with her "own" version of life during the Bush-Cheney theocracy? Oh, and of course, her mea-culpa earned her a tidy Million...a Million Dollars for remaining quiet, hidden, absent, while her father and his cronies did us in...
Mary...there is something about you...Where were you the last six years?
Where were you when your father and our illuminated President have tried to pass a Constitutional Ammendment legalizing discirmination based on sexual orientation?
Where were you when the US military has increased its with hunt against patriotic Gays and Lesbians on the basis of their sexual orientation, even while they sacrifice their lives in this madcap adventure your father and his boss have tragically plunged our great nation into?
Where were you when the President used his anti-Gay rhetoric during the last election to get-out-the-vote among some of America's darkest-hearted bigots?
Where were you when we needed a voice of reason Mary?
Where were you when...
